National Lighthouse Day 2023

Happy National Lighthouse Day!

Well, sort of.

Historically, National Lighthouse Day has been celebrated on 7 August, but apparently it would take an act of congress to make that happen this year. Looking at you — congress. It’s not like there were only so many days in a year. Maybe think of the days as if they were dollars — glad I could help.

But enough about politics, it’s a free country, so here goes!

Have you considered taking a lighthouse cruise to get an up-close view from a ship?

If not, there are alternatives to help you celebrate this year’s (unofficial) National Lighthouse Day.

For example, you could check in on your favorite hymn website and find your next favorite hymn. We are here to help with all of your National Lighthouse Day celebration needs, or at least the needs of our less adventurous readers.

Of course, some of you are already prepared for celebration and have already selected from hymns and arrangements available on the website. We here at the TRUSTHYMN web development branch are a bit behind of the copyright division and will not be able to update the site for a little bit. However, we have obtained copyrights for several new hymns and arrangements that will hopefully be available at TRUSTHYMN.wordpress.com, soon. Check back or send us a message with contact information if you would like us to prioritize updating the website for any of the new hymns in particular. For now, see the below list of new hymns and arrangements (keep monitoring our home page to be the first to find these on our website and then send a note to claim your prize):

All Hope was Born

We are adding a new elementary piano arrangement of the hymn All Hope was Born. For more details about the original version, see the hymn’s main page.

Are You Disappointed?

We are adding a new elementary piano arrangement of the hymn Are You Disappointed. For more details about the original version, see the hymn’s main page.

In Heaven’s Light We See His Love

We are happy to announce this new hymn, along with an elementary piano arrangement.

This hymn in set in Heaven with the global church rejoicing around God’s throne. Jesus’ love has brought us together from every tribe and nation for the glory of God alone. The hymn elaborates on the great throne room scene from Revelations 4-7, particularly 6 and 7.

No Eye Has Seen (He Is Who He Is)

We are adding a new elementary piano arrangement of the hymn No Eye Has Seen. For more details about the original version, see the hymn’s main page.

Rejoice Rejoice and Clap Your Hands

Announcing a second new hymn in this grouping, along with an elementary piano, choral, and piano solo arrangements.

This hymn celebrates the gift of music, which blesses the hearts of man. The congregation is called to rejoice, give ear to the Spirit’s call, receive His offer, and adore the Lord.

Why Should I Be Free?

The third new hymn is here and asking an important question.

This hymn allows the congregation to reflect on God’s unmerited favor, which frees us; gives us new life; allows us to believe; opens our eyes; proclaims His name; bends our knee; gives us a white robe to sing Heaven’s song; lets us see Heaven’s Light; and allows us to escape the night. Come, celebrate, and wonder at His kindness, mercy, and steadfast love for us.

As a bonus, I thought that I would share a personal note regarding a gift that I am giving a friend for National Lighthouse Day this year:

Oh, my dearest belle,
  perhaps only time will tell
whether I loved well.
Have I given all to you
    as I had intended to?

Lord, make me a friend
who is faithful to the end.
By your mercy send
    to me character in life
as a blessing to my wife.

Through these many years,
I am sorry for the tears
and my untamed fears.
    Yet imperfect as I am,
let me point you to the Lamb.
